This method is very popular for casual and newcomers to gripping. The other alternative is Solvent activated strips (requiring gripping solvent) and is regarded as the professionals choice way of repripping. Both methods are easy - the choice is yours.
Things you need to get started: Ideally a vice and rubber vice clamps (a vice is not essential but does aid fitting) Hooked blade in a utility knife. 2" Water-activated grip strips (one per club) 1 new grip per club!
Step by Step Regripping Instructions 1. Secure the club in a vice near the grip using a protective rubber vice clamp. Position the clubface perpendicular to the floor in the playing position.
2. Remove the old grip with a utility knife with a hooked blade to avoid damage to the shaft. Be sure to cut away from yourself at all times. Peel or scrape off the old grip and grip tape. Clean off the residue using a cloth and solvent. 3. Wrap GolfGrips-Direct.Com water based 2" double-sided grip tape vertically on the shaft so the tape covers the entire shaft. Remove the tape backing and cover the end of the shaft with the extra tape. 4. Pour a small amount of water solution (details provided on purchase) inside the new grip, covering the vent hole in the butt end with your finger or golf tee. Close the open end of the grip with your other hand and shake to cover the entire inside of the grip. 5. Pour the excess solution over the entire length of the two-sided tape, applying sparingly. 6. Place the grip over the shaft butt (with the alignment pattern up) onto the club by squeezing the open end of the grip. This must be done while the grip tape is still wet with solution 7. Push the grip entirely onto the club, ensuring that the grip butt is all the way against the shaft butt. 8. The grip can now be properly aligned with the pattern square to the clubface (this must happen within a minute or so after applying the grip). 9. Allow grips to dry for several hours before playing.
